A.S.D. Polisportiva Trivium of Spilimbergo was established in 1996 from a well-known association: the Ass. Atletica Spilimberghese, that boasted decennial activities and several Italian and regional champions among its members.
Today there are more than 100 members. Their sports activities are mainly athletics, road and MTB racing and running. Since 2008 the club runs the sport facilities and the athletic ground owned by the Spilimbergo City Council, where the majority of the sporting activities for young people take place.
A.S.D. Polisportiva Trivium invests most of its financial resources to promote sport among young people. It has been active for a few years with scores of girls and boys younger than 14 who take part in athletics competitions and meetings reaching good individual results. Moreover it offers an MTB school for boys and girls up to Categoria Allievi (Colt Division – Under 14).
For that activity they realized two outdoor courses: training and MTB races, that are also used for running. These two courses (550 and 1250 meters) took place in a municipal area which is enclosed in the athletics facilities.
Their realization required no stonework: they replaced old paths and sheep-tracks.
Recently, the club organized some bicycle races for young people (the race on road route called “Città del Mosaico” for competitors under 14 years of age and MTB races for Junior Bike route) and its athletics youth league took part in the project promoted by the Municipality of Spilimbergo called “Sport in rete”.
It also organizes events in collaboration with other local sporting clubs, including Triathlon Team for the event known as “Magreid”.
Since 2009 Polisportiva has started to cooperate with a Primary School of Spilimbergo to promote some educational activities concerning health and road safety.
Children are taught to become independent by using bicycles and to understand the importance of leading an healthy life by playing outdoor sports.
This scholastic project ends with the popular national event “Bimbimbici”, created and promoted every year by the Federazione Italiana Amici della Bicicletta – FIAB Onlus.
The aim of this event is to encourage children to use the bicycle as their daily means of transport because it is good for their health and for the environment. That is why they are incited to ask the Government for safe home-school ways.
